I’ve had the privilege of being Alan’s classmate as part of Susan O Connor’s Game Writing Masterclass. Aside from his incredible prowess as a writer, his calm and attentive approach will provide a safe harbor for those around him. His writing has an incredible effortlessness to it, and simply flows along the page. Also, he has a phenomenal taste, both in games and art in general, which means he’s the perfect filter for all your ideas. I’ve no doubt he’ll soon be meticulously crafting incredible new worlds that the players will bask in (this one included).

I met Alan as a student in the Narrative Department course that we both attended. His love and a wide variety of knowledge for the RPG world can be seen in both his own work and the exemplary feedback that he gave to his classmates. Though Alan doesn’t have much actual experience in the gaming industry, his passion and drive for the gaming world shows that he is more than ready to start working for any gaming studio. Through the few months that I had the pleasure of working with Alan, he showed that he could work both in a team and individually. The remote setting and the distance of over 7,5k kilometres between us had no impact on our work together. His knowledge of the game narrative is perfectly shown in his work.

This piece is brilliant. I love the character interactions – and I can so CLEARLY imagine every action playing out inside my head. It feels like you’re really good at telling a story through not just dialogue but action and environment – and honestly, if you’re writing for games, I can imagine designers will LOVE you for that.
